Apple has unveiled a significant multi-year collaboration with Broadcom, committing over $30 billion to produce more than 15 billion chips in the United States. This initiative aims to bolster domestic semiconductor production and enhance Apple’s American supply chain. The plan is part of Apple’s extensive strategy to establish a comprehensive U.S.-based chip ecosystem, encompassing both the design and manufacturing of chips. This move is anticipated to generate hundreds of jobs and boost the production of advanced wireless technologies integral to Apple devices.

As a segment of this agreement, Broadcom is set to invest $1.5 billion to expand and upgrade its manufacturing plant located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This facility will focus on producing advanced radio frequency (RF) components, such as FBAR filters, which are crucial for improving the wireless performance and connectivity of Apple products. The advanced components manufactured in Colorado are expected to play a pivotal role in maintaining the high performance and wireless capabilities that Apple customers have come to expect.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, emphasized that this partnership underscores Apple’s enduring dedication to American manufacturing and innovation. He expressed pride in strengthening investments with U.S.-based suppliers who are dedicated to advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing standards. Cook highlighted that the collaboration will significantly contribute to the performance enhancements in Apple devices.

Broadcom’s CEO, Hock Tan, echoed these sentiments, expressing enthusiasm for the expanded partnership. He stated that Broadcom shares Apple’s commitment to fortifying American innovation and manufacturing prowess. The collaboration aligns with Broadcom’s goals to support the growth of domestic technology capabilities.

This new agreement is a component of Apple’s previously outlined $600 billion U.S. investment plan. The plan includes expanding manufacturing capacity, developing artificial intelligence server facilities in Texas, and creating additional high-skilled jobs across the nation. This comprehensive investment strategy underscores Apple’s commitment to fostering technological advancement and job creation within the United States.
