According to recent Eurostat data, the nation recorded only 23.3% of its electricity consumption from renewable sources, placing it just above Czechia and Malta. Overall, renewable sources accounted for 20.2% of Luxembourg’s gross final energy consumption. This figure highlights the country’s struggle to keep pace with the EU’s renewable energy goals. The European Union, as a whole, reported that renewable energy contributed to 26.2% of its gross final energy consumption in 2025. This represents significant progress from 9.6% in 2004, with an ambitious aim to reach 42.5% by 2030.
Leading the charge in renewable energy consumption within the EU, Sweden reported that 65.4% of its energy consumption came from renewable sources. Finland and Denmark also ranked highly in terms of renewable energy usage across the bloc.
