China has experienced robust growth in its foreign trade sector during the first eight months of the year, with the total value of imports and exports reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This represents a significant 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The surge was driven by a 14.6% rise in exports, which totaled 20.17 trillion yuan, while imports saw an even larger jump, increasing by 22% to reach 14.61 trillion yuan.

The growth momentum gained further traction in August, as the combined value of imported and exported goods rose by 19.8% year-on-year, amounting to 4.65 trillion yuan. During this period, exports grew by 18.6%, and imports expanded by 21.7%, underscoring a consistent upward trend in trade activities.

Notably, both exports and imports have achieved double-digit year-on-year growth for four consecutive months. This pattern of growth highlights the resilience and expanding capacity of China’s trade sector in the face of global economic challenges.

Interestingly, import growth has outpaced that of exports for six months running, indicating a strong domestic demand for foreign goods alongside the steady performance of China’s export market. This trend reflects a dynamic trade environment and suggests a balanced approach to economic expansion.
